• Biodiversity Net Gain Specialist
  Kent

  To meet growing demand and to maintain our excellent professional standards we are now looking to expand our ecology family, specifically seeking a new Biodiversity Net Gain specialist on a full-time permanent contract, who will play a vital role in the growth and development of this new sub-department.

  This BNG specialist will continue to work closely with our existing clients, primarily within the planning / development sector, expanding on our existing services focused on advising clients on and helping to deliver their BNG obligations. However, the BNG specialist will also seek new opportunities to work closely with land managers / habitat bankers / habitat bank operators keen to explore BNG as an additional source of revenue and/or a valuable tool to fund nature recovery work within their land and contribute to wider local nature recovery strategies. PJC Consultancy believe that the latter provides a perfect opportunity for the ecology team, many of whom have a background and deep interest in nature conservation, to break from the traditional and often restrictive approaches to securing site-based biodiversity net-gains, and instead apply their skillsets and interests to securing these more complex landscape-scale and often more meaningful and measurable biodiversity net-gains.

  We are looking for the following skills, experience and personality:

  • Most importantly, enthusiasm for ecology and specifically BNG, and an ambition to develop long-term a specialist BNG team;
  • Excellent technical survey skills (i.e. UK Habs Survey, Habitat / River Condition Assessments) and report writing skills (i.e. BNG Assessments (including metric calculations), HMMPs, Biodiversity Gain Plans etc);
  • Confidence in liaising directly with clients (i.e. developers and habitat bankers) as well as other stakeholders (i.e. local planning authorities) whilst demonstrating excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to mentor individuals and drive high professional standards across the wider ecology team;
  • A degree in ecology or closely related field;
  • Comprehensive understanding of current and evolving nature conservation legislation and planning policy, particularly with respect to BNG;
  • Experience with mapping software packages, notably QGIS and AutoCAD (desirable);
  • River Condition Assessment accreditation (desirable);
  • CIEEM membership (desirable);
  • Full clean current UK driving licence.

  We are looking for the following skills, experience and personality:

  • Most importantly, enthusiasm for ecology and an ambition to advance and drive high professional standards across the company and wider industry;
  • Proven experience in ecological consultancy;
  • A degree in ecology or closely related field;
  • Holder of a class 1 (CL17) bat survey licence (holding other protected species survey licences would also be advantageous);
  • Confidence in liaising directly with clients (and other stakeholders) whilst demonstrating excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Comprehensive understanding of current and evolving nature conservation legislation and planning policy;
  • Full clean current UK driving licence; and
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours particularly during the survey season.

• Landscape Designer / Architect

  PJC Consultancy has been developing a growing its landscape portfolio of projects . Due to continued growth, they now require a Graduate Landscape Architect to join the team

  We are looking for a motivated, well organised and talented Graduate Landscape Architect for a studio near Hailsham, East Sussex or Ashford, Kent . PJC Consultancy works on projects for Retail, Residential, Public Realm, Leisure, Education, Office & Commercial sectors.

  As a Graduate Landscape Architect / Designer, you will be involved in supporting the team on a number of exciting schemes at varying scales and at different design stages, from concept to planning through to tender and contract implementation.

  GRADUATE LANDSCAPE KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Landscape Architecture / Garden Designer degree or A degree in Landscape Architecture (or equivalent) as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma or master’s degree in landscape architecture;
  • Some experience in the design and detailing of hard and soft landscaping schemes.
  • Production of design and technical drawings packages;
  • Competent using AutoCAD, Photoshop or Sketchup;
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage time with multiple tasks;
  • Have a good attention to detail and able to check their own work;
  • Have a reasonable understanding of the planning system;
  • Have good eye for design detail and attractive graphics;
  • A full UK driving licence;
  • Must be based close to or willing to relocate to the offices near Hailsham (East Sussex) or Ashford (Kent).
