PJC Consultancy can undertake river corridor surveys following the Environment Agency’s best practice guidelines. River corridor surveys can also be adapted for ditch systems.
River corridor surveys involve assessing the ecological value of the river corridor systems, the vegetation found, the presence of non-native or invasive species, and the identification of any constraints to development.
River corridor surveys also make an assessment in terms of the value and potential of the river to support protected species such as bats, otters, water voles and white-clawed crayfish. Developments must take into consideration all river courses and any potential for downstream pollution, sedimentation and alteration of natural water flow.
