Natural England Licensing and Protected Species Licensing
A Natural England license is often required in order to develop a site that is host to protected species.
European protected species are covered by the Habitats Regulations 2010, first enacted in 1994 and incorporating amendments from 2007 and 2009. For other protected species, the most important legislation is the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, as amended.
PJC Consultancy ecologists can provide you with advice on Natural England licensing and our consultants hold Natural England licenses for bats, dormice and great crested newts. We can also apply for Natural England licenses on your behalf where necessary.
