BREEAM: (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method)

BREEAM is a method for assessing the environmental quality of buildings. PJC undertake the ecological and landscape appriasals, of the BREEAM assessment and include the following BREEAM credits:

  • previous land use of the proposed development site
  • the ecological value of the site
  • any predicted negative impact on ecological features
  • the potential to enhance any ecological features
  • ensure legal compliance and appropriate land management.

BREEAM assessments can be undertaken for various types of sites such as industrial sites (Industrial BREEAM), BREEAM for Offices, BREEAM Retail multi-residential and BREEAM for Schools.

PJC provide a professional service incorporating appropriate ecological mitigation and environmental enhancement measures, which can be included within the development design. BREEAM assessments are undertaken by experienced ecologists who are full members of the IEEM (MIEEM) who assist the developer in maximising credit rating.

CSH: Code for Sustainable Homes

The Code for Sustainable Homes has been developed to enable a change in building practice for new homes. It has been prepared by the Government in close working consultation with the Building Research Establishment (BRE) and Construction Industry Research and Information Association (CIRIA). The Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) is an environmental assessment method for rating and certifying the performance of new homes.

The CSH covers nine categories, of which PJC covers the ecology and landuse category.

PJC provide a professional service incorporating appropriate ecological mitigation and environmental enhancement measures, which can be included within the development design. As PJC ecologists are full members of IEEM (MIEEM), they are considered to be 'suitably qualified ecologists' which is a requirement of CSH assessment.
