About PJC Consultancy
PJC is an independent arboricultural and ecological consultancy that works throughout the UK. Our consultants are both academically and professionally (IEEM, Arboricultural Association) qualified and combine experience and expertise in ecological assessment, land management, arboriculture and project management.
Our services are highlighted on this website but include; special surveys for European Protected Species (bats, great crested newts, dormice for example), other protected species, Phase 1 habitat surveys, EcIAs, technical reporting to support planning applications and appeals, tree surveys and arboricultural assessments.
The consultancy works alongside PJ Chaffin Tree Surgery that was established in 1984. The company undertakes a wide range of surveys and provides clients with positive and practical solutions to meet their environmental needs.

Ecology: Alexia Tamblyn MA (Oxon) MSc CEnv MIEEM FRGS
Alexia has been working in the ecology sector for over 10 years gaining experience in both UK and overseas environments including spending time studying giant bats in Papua New Guinea, to developing conservation management plans in South America, and various countries in between. Alexia holds an MA in Biological Sciences from the Oxford University and an MSc, specialising in Ecological Management from Imperial College, London.
Alexia holds Natural England licences for Bats, Dormice and Great Crested Newts, is a full member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society (FRGS). Alexia is also a chartered environmentalist.
Alexia develops and manages projects in the UK and works on SPA and SAC issues, EcIAs, protected species surveys, inquiries, expert witness, protected species licensing, habitat management and creation methods, mitigation techniques, surveying and risk assessments. Alexia has considerable practice in stakeholder consultation (both UK and internationally), community liaisons and negotiation experience.
Arboriculture: Nick Betts HND For. M.Arbor.A
Nick has over 10 years experience in the arboricultural and forestry industries, starting out as a feller before qualifying as a tree surgeon, working in both the private and commercial sectors of arboriculture across the country.
With a knowledge of both the practical and the theory of tree care he moved into consultancy, working on both large scale condition and safety surveys and BS:5837:2005 pre construction reports, as well as woodland management plans and mortgage reports.

Condition and Safety Surveys, BS5837:2005 Construction Surveys
We regularly carry out inspection and surveys for East Sussex County Council, as part of a condition and safety brief or where BS5837 surveys are required prior to construction. We are mainly asked to inspect and survey school grounds, and have also covered care homes and day centers
